Fortezza is situated at the highest point of the residential area, at 753 metres above sea level. During the nineteenth century it was used as an experiment centre by Guglielmo Marconi and Michele Stefano De Rossi. During the earlies 2000 important archaeological works on the site have been launched, making discover the old base and the archaeological site has been opened to the public. From the Fortezza you can enjoy a 180-degree view from Pontine Islands to Argentario Mount. Rome, in the middle, complete this beautiful picture.
In the green woods surrounding Rocca di Papa, you can find the Via Sacra, built in the seventh century BC, brought to the temple of Jupiter in the Monte Cavo. The road started at the twelfth mile of the Via Appia and along the shores of Lake Albano, climbed up to the Temple. Here, every year, the people of the Latin League gathered to celebrate the Feriae Latinae, religious festivals dedicated to Jupiter Latiaris, to who was sacrificed a white bull. The width of the road, still intact in some places, was 2.60 meters. Outside of the street you can see the " crepidines ", stone pavement of lava stone .

Located just a few steps far from the Assumption Parish Church, the Church of the Crucified is a small religious building, the first built in the city in the twelfth century, and in which Saint Carlo Borromeo was proclaimed patron of the city.
